About St. Andrew’s School for Special Education (SASSE)
Located in Grenville, St. Andrew, St. Andrew’s School for Special Education (SASSE) has provided vital educational support for over 40 years, serving as a cornerstone for special needs education in the north-east of Grenada.
The school caters to approximately 50 pupils drawn from across the eastern and northern parishes, supporting children and young people of mixed ages spanning both primary and secondary school levels. As the primary specialised facility serving this part of the island, SASSE offers a nurturing, structured environment for pupils requiring tailored learning pathways.
The dedicated educators and support staff focus on holistic development—combining foundational academics with creative expression, sensory learning, and personal care. A central pillar of the school's mission is equipping pupils with essential everyday life skills and practical vocational training, fostering independence, personal confidence, and community inclusion to prepare every child for life beyond the classroom.
Direct Leadership, Direct Impact
The Sunshine Foundation works in direct, personal partnership with Headmistress Martha Noel and her team at St. Andrew’s School for Special Education.
As our primary liaison on the ground, Headmistress Martha Noel identifies the school’s most urgent, real-time priorities—whether that is funding building maintenance, providing supplies for vocational and life-skills training, or securing daily care essentials. She then works directly with her dedicated teaching staff and care team to implement these projects immediately inside the classroom.
